This Privacy Policy explains how Irithmetic Consulting ("Irithmetic", "we", "us") collects, uses, stores and protects personal information when you visit www.irithmetic.com, contact us, or use applications operated by Irithmetic, including applications that access Google user data through Google APIs. We process personal information in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 ("POPIA") of South Africa.
1. Who we are
Irithmetic Consulting is a software consulting business operated as a sole proprietorship by Ideon van Niekerk in South Africa. For the purposes of POPIA, Irithmetic Consulting is the responsible party for the personal information described in this policy, and the proprietor acts as its Information Officer.
2. Information we collect
Information you give us
When you email us or otherwise get in touch, we receive the information you choose to share, such as your name, email address, company and the content of your message.
Information collected automatically
This website does not use cookies, analytics or advertising trackers, and does not ask you to create an account. Like most websites, our web server and our network provider (Cloudflare) process technical request data, such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested, in order to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. Our pages load fonts from Google Fonts, which means your browser connects to Google's servers to download them.
Information from Google services
Some Irithmetic applications let authorised users sign in with Google or connect Google services. The Google user data involved is described in the next section.
3. Google user data
Irithmetic operates applications on Google Cloud for internal business use. These applications are used only by Irithmetic and people it explicitly authorises, and are not offered to the general public.
What we access
When an authorised user signs in with Google, the application receives only the data covered by the permissions (scopes) shown on Google's consent screen. Usually this is the user's name, email address and profile picture, used to identify the user. If an application requests access to other Google data, it asks only for what that feature needs, and Google shows those permissions on the consent screen before any access is granted.
How we use it
Google user data is used only to provide and improve the user-facing features of the application the user authorised, such as authenticating the user and carrying out actions the user requests. We do not use Google user data for advertising, and we do not sell it.
How we store and share it
Google user data is stored only where an application needs it to function, and is protected as described under Security. We do not share or transfer Google user data with third parties, except where necessary to provide the application's features (for example, to the cloud infrastructure that hosts it), to comply with applicable law, or as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets with notice to users.
Irithmetic's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
No person reads Google user data unless the user has given affirmative consent for specific messages or files, it is necessary for security purposes (such as investigating abuse), it is needed to comply with applicable law, or the data has been aggregated and anonymised for internal operations.
Revoking access
You can revoke an Irithmetic application's access to your Google account at any time from your Google Account permissions page.
4. How we use information
- To respond to enquiries and communicate with you about a potential or ongoing engagement.
- To deliver consulting services and operate the applications you are authorised to use.
- To keep our website and applications secure, reliable and free from abuse.
- To meet legal, tax and accounting obligations.
We process personal information only where we have a lawful basis under POPIA, such as your consent, the performance of a contract with you, compliance with a legal obligation, or our legitimate interests where these do not override your rights.
5. Sharing and disclosure
We do not sell, rent or trade personal information. We share it only with:
- Service providers who help us run our business, such as hosting, email and cloud providers (including Google and Cloudflare), under appropriate confidentiality and security obligations.
- Authorities, where required by law or to protect our rights, property or safety, or those of others.
Some of these providers process data outside South Africa. Where personal information is transferred across borders, we rely on providers that are subject to laws, binding agreements or corporate rules giving it a level of protection comparable to POPIA, as required by section 72 of POPIA.
6. Retention and deletion
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purpose it was collected for, or as required by law (for example, for tax records). Google user data held by an internal application is deleted when it is no longer needed for that application's functionality, when the user's access is removed, or on request. You can ask us to delete your information at any time using the details in Contact us.
7. Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information against loss, misuse and unauthorised access. These include encrypted connections (HTTPS), restricted access on a need-to-know basis, strong authentication on the accounts and systems we use, and keeping software up to date. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and will notify you and the Information Regulator of any security compromise as required by POPIA.
8. Your rights
Under POPIA you have the right to:
- ask whether we hold personal information about you, and request access to it;
- request that we correct, update or delete your personal information;
- object to the processing of your personal information on reasonable grounds;
- withdraw your consent where processing is based on consent;
- lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (South Africa).

9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be published on this page with its effective date. If we make material changes to how we handle Google user data, we will notify affected users before the change takes effect.
